What are the requirements for British curriculum certificates’ equivalency in the UAE

  • The student is required to successfully complete Grade 12/Year 13
  • A copy of the transcripts for the last 3 years of study: Grades 10, 11, and 12
  • Evidence of successful completion of 5 Ordinary Level, GCSE or IGCSE approved subjects with a grade of (A*, A, B, C, D or E) excluding Arabic and Islamic studies
    • Note:
      • Taking Islamic Studies during the last 3 years of study is required for Muslim students
      • Taking Arabic during the last 3 years of study is required for students with an Arab nationality
  • Evidence of successful completion of two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects (AS) or one Advanced Level (A Level) subject with a grade of (A*, A, B, C or D)

How to apply for the equivalency in the UAE

The Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates is responsible for high school equivalencies. In order to apply for the equivalency, you have to follow these steps:

  1. Visit the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education website and create an account
  2. Head over to the Request For Equivalency Of General Education Certificate In The UAE (Grade 12) service
  3. Submit the required documents
  4. Pay the fees related to the application once you receive it
  5. Provide any additional information or documents that may be required after the application has been reviewed by the equalization officer
  6. Pay applicable fees
  7. Your application will be forwarded to an Equivalency Specialist or to a committee (in special cases)
  8. You will receive the final decision (Equalize/ Reject) on your equivalency via the portal, email, and SMS.
